Day
1 : Arrival Singapore
|
| |
|
On
arrival in Singapore, you will be met by our local representative
and transferred to your hotel.
A
former British colony, Singapore has just celebrated its 35th
year of nation building. A
tiny tropical island of just under 640 square kilometers, Singapore
has the world's busiest port and its airport is consistently voted
the world's best. The city's excellent facilities and transportation,
international hotels, delicious food, fascinating cultural mix,
and wealth of attractions draw more than seven million visitors
a year-making it one of the few countries in the world to receive
more tourists than its resident population. Overnight at the hotel.

Day
2 : Singapore
|
Buffet
breakfast at the hotel. Later proceed for a half day city tour.
Discover
the spirit of Singapore by taking a scenic stroll at Botanic Gardens
amidst beautiful orchid nurseries. Drive along swinging Orchard
Road with its mix of plush hotels, restaurants and shopping centers.
Proceed along the heart of Singapore, i.e. Victoria Memorial Hall,
Parliament House, Supreme Court, City Hall, St. Andrew's Cathedral.
Then, right to the Singapore River where founder Sir Stamford
Raffles first alighted. Visit Chinatown where a few narrow streets
are still alive with colorful old trade. View the Sri Mariamman
Hindu Temple with its imposing façade called the "Gopuram".
At the end of the tour, ascend Mt. Faber for a panoramic view
of the city and harbor. Evening is at leisure. Overnight at the
hotel.

3 : Singapore
|
Buffet
breakfast at the hotel. Later proceed for a half day city tour
with a walk through a spice garden at Fort Canning Park. Then,
an introduction to a typical Peranakan house and the fascinating
nonya culture. Explore Little India with its narrow streets overflowing
with gold and spices, pots and pans, saris, and jasmine garlands.
Let your senses be assailed by the aroma of cruises and spices.
The tour continues to a "wet" market where intensive
haggling is the order of the day. The tour wraps up with a visit
to an herbalist in Chinatown where you will gain an insight into
the traditional concepts of yin and yang, and how Chinese people
keep themselves healthy. In the evening proceed for Night Safari.

Day
4 : Singapore - Kualalumpur
|
Buffet
breakfast at the hotel. Later check out and transfer to the Singapore
Railway Station where you will board the Malayan Railway Express
service to Kuala Lumpur. Enjoy a "backyard" view of
the lush and fascinating countryside. Upon arrival, transfer to
the hotel. In the evening proceed for a night tour of Kualalumpur
followed by dinner and local cultural dance performance. Overnight
at the hotel.

Day
5 : Kualalumpur - Malacca - Kualalumpur
|
After
early buffet breakfast, start your Malaysian experience today
with a tour of Malacca - the Historical City. Founded 600 years
ago, Malacca is the cradle of Malaysian history. Today,
it is a living museum with evidence of its colorful past of Malay
Sultanates, Portuguese, Dutch and English influences for all to
see. Visit "A Formosa", the only remaining gate of a
once formidable Portuguese fortification. You will also visit
St. Paul's Hill and the "Dutch Square" - a cluster of
well-preserved structures of traditional Dutch architecture like
Christ Church and the Stadhuys. At "Bukit Cina", or
Chinese Hill, see remnants of huge Ming-era tombs. Enjoy Lunch
of typical Baba Nyonya fare ( a meal consisting of slightly spiced
local food, indigenous to Malacca). After lunch, visit the oldest
functioning Chinese Temple in Malaysia- the Cheng Hoon Teng, followed
by a walk through Jonker's (Antiques) Street to pick up an invaluable
piece of history as a souvenir of your visit to Malacca. Return
to Kuala Lumpur in the late afternoon. Remainder of day is at
your leisure.

7 : Kualalumpur / Cameron Highlands
|
|
After
buffet breakfast at the hotel, depart for Cameron Highlands via
Kuala Lumpur. The road gently winds up to Cameron Highlands through
villages, forest clad mountains and valleys. Enroute, you will
visit an aboriginal village, where you can watch a demonstration
on the use of a blowpipe - an ancient hunting weapon of the natives
that spew poisonous darts with deadly accuracy! With the cooler
climate at its peak, unusual vegetation proliferates. View its
many tea plantations, vegetable gardens and colorful nurseries.

Day
8 : Cameron Highlands/Ipoh/Kuala Kangsar/Penang
|
After
breakfast, visit to the hillside market to learn of the many types
of fruits, vegetables and flowers available on this highland.
Then, descend to Perak State, famous for its tin mines, cave temples
and royal palaces. Visit Perak Tong, a Chinese cave temple, to
learn about the Buddhist, Taoist and Confucian beliefs. At the
Royal Town of Kuala Kangsar, make a photo stop at a century-old
palace, now converted into a museum for the Royal Regalia. See
the enchanting Ubudiah Mosque with its fairy tale architecture
that seems to have emerged from the fables of the Arabian Nights!
Cross the Penang Bridge, a super structure 13.5 km long - the
3rd longest bridge in Asia - to Penang, the "Pearl of the
Orient". Upon arrival, visit the Snake Temple - a sanctuary
where poisonous pit vipers coil around the pillars, beams and
potted plants within the temple. Then, check into the hotel.

9 : Penang
|
After
breakfast, proceed for a morning half-day city tour of Georgetown,
the capital of Penang Island, begins with a visit to the ruins
of Fort Cornwallis, a failed fortress built by the English in
the 19th century. Visit the Temple of the Reclining Buddha, Wat
Chayamangkalaram, and the Burmese Temple. Take a drive through
quaint yet bustling downtown to see the remnants of colonial shop-houses,
magnificent turn-of-the-century buildings and stately mansions.
Also visit the magnificent Khoo Kongsi - a Clan house - built
by expert Chinese craftsmen over a century ago. The Clan house,
with its intricately carved murals depicts the life and times
of their most famous ancestors. Finally, visit the botanical gardens
to learn about some of the flora and fauna of this exotic island.
In the afternoon, feel free to explore this endearing city by
foot or enjoy its downtown attractions in a "trishaw"
- a popular three-wheeled cycle.
