Nationals of the following countries Do Not Require Visas when intended stay does not exceed three months: Botswana, Gambia, Ghana, Hong Kong, (Special administrative Region of China), Kenya Republic, Lesotho Kingdom, Malawi, Malaysia, Mozambique, Namibia, Rwanda, Swaziland, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe, and Commonwealth Member States Except United Kingdom, South Africa, Nigeria, New Zealand, India, Canada, Bangladesh, and Australia.

Nationals of the following countries must have their request for visas referred to the Director of Immigration Service in Tanzania: Abkhazia, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Chad, Djibouti, Equatorial Guinnea, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Mali, Mauritania, Morocco, Niger, Palestine, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Somali Land, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Refugees and Stateless Persons. It should be noted that all visitors who fall under this category may not be allowed entry into Tanzania, without being in possession of Referred Visas. (Allow 4 weeks processing time).

All other nationals should contact our office to check and see if they require a visa.

Requirements for obtaining a Tanzania Visa:

• A passport valid for a minimum of six months from the date of intended arrival (with at least one blank page available).
• One Visa Application Form, filled out, dated and signed by the applicant (parents must sign for minors under 18 years old).
• One recent passport photo (2x2).
• A valid Permanent Resident Card or valid status in the USA, with one photo copy.
• Copies of the itineraries; Air and INLAND are MANDATORY.
• Also, provide proof of having sufficient funds to maintain the applicant while in Tanzania. This can be done via a bank statement, employer letter or a pay stub.
• Volunteer visa - LETTER from HOST is REQUIRED.
• Business visa - LETTER from EMPLOYER/and HOST in Tanzania is MANDATORY.
• Immunization against Cholera and Anti-Malaria pills is recommended.
• Yellow Fever vaccination is not a requirement for entering Tanzania.
• License or Certificate for Pets is required if traveling with Pets.
• FEES -
  • Visa fee for US Citizen is $100, valid for 1 year, multiple entry visa.
  • European Nations visa fee is $50, valid for three months, single entry.
  • For all other nations the visa fee may vary from one country to another depending on the reciprocity arrangements. An extra $20.00 is charged for rush service (24-48 hrs), Regular Service is 3-5 business days. Fees are payable in Cash or Money Order/Cashier's check payable to Tanzania Mission to the U.N.
